The eToro platform offers access to approximately 200 stocks listed on the S&P/ASX 200, the index for stocks on the Australian Securities Exchange. If you're keen on purchasing real Australian shares, here's a guide I've created based on my trading experience.

The Step-by-Step Process to Buy Australia Shares

  1. Sign Up or Log In: To start, sign up for a trading account if you're new; the process is simple on their website or app. Existing users can just log in..
  2. Find ASX Stocks: After logging in, select "Discover," then "Stocks." Choose "Exchange" and select "Sydney" to access the Australian exchange.
  3. Select an Australian Stock: You'll see a list of Australian stocks available for investment. The last time I checked, there were around 200 choices here. Pick the one you want to trade.
  4. Determine Your Investment: Decide how much to invest in your chosen stock. Remember, eToro's minimum stock investment is $10.
  5. Keep the Leverage to X1: For buying real shares, ensure leverage is set to X1. This means you're purchasing actual stocks without using leverage. Using leverage above X1 turns your trade into stock CFDs.
  6. Customize Stop Loss and Take-Profit: Adjust your trade with stop-loss and take-profit settings according to your trading strategy. If you're unfamiliar with these, research to align them with your investment objectives.
  7. Execute or Set Your Trade: Finally, click "Open Trade." If the market is closed, use "Set Order" to place your order once the market opens. Congratulations, you've successfully bought Australian shares on eToro!
