History of Apple

Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak founded Apple in 1976. Apple’s journey to becoming a diversified leading technology player had its humble beginnings in the garage of Job’s family which they converted into a makeshift office. Its growth strategy included the acquisition of small tech companies that it quickly integrated into its expanding product line. Apple made its debut on the stock market on Dec. 12, 1980, four years after its founding, through an initial public offering (IPO) at $22.00 per share. The company's stock trades on Nasdaq Global Select Market.

From 1980 to 1990, Apple enjoyed massive success with its Macintosh product line. However, by the 1990s, the Mac line experienced significant drop in sales. Apple tackled this challenge by coming up with a lower cost version of the Mac, by releasing the PowerBook. By 1997, the company went back to profitability after introducing new products such as the iBook, the Apple Store before debuting the iPod in 2001.

The later years of the 2000s gave Apple more success with the widespread success of the iPhone mobile phone series, iPad and iPod Touch. By 2020, Apple has able to post a net income of $57.4 billion from a net sale of $274.5 billion.

If one will consider the over-all worth of Apple's stock without its history of stock-splits, it would reach more than $1,800 per share as of 2021.

Apple's consistent release of technology products has given investors a landmine for growth through the last couple of decades. After it released its first iPod in 2001, Apple's shares rose 6.6% on the first trading day. Its iMac and MacBook products meanwhile, took Apple's shares to a 263% increase after it became a hit in the computer retail market.

This was followed by a 15.9% increase after Apple released the first iPhone in 2007. Another 40% increase occurred after the market debut of the iPad in 2010. Why Apple Stock is Down?

There are many reasons why Apple shares could fall. A weakening consumer demand for its flagship products like the iPhone, iPad or Mac could drive the stock price down. A less impressive earnings report of the company may also be another factor.

It's also possible that it has less to do with the company itself but rather more on the macroeconomic factors in relation to the economy, particularly the tech sector. For example, rising interest rates would mean that consumers will probably have less disposable income and this could make it more challenging for companies to get funding for further improving or enhancing their products.

Apple shares are also influenced by statements made by its current CEO Tim Cook. Any announcements regarding their products, services, or the future of the company can drive prices to go up or down.

Apple Stock Forecast

According to market watchers and analysts, forecast for Apple's share is good enough to project some earnings of $1.89 per share from a revenue of somewhere around $118 billion. Although it’s pretty common for Apple to exceed analyst estimates, it sometimes falls short of expectations such as what happened in the last quarter of 2020.

Analysts consider that shortfall to the supply chain problem caused by the pandemic. While this is an issue that needs to be closely looked into, it is good to know that Apple hasn't missed an EPS (Earnings per share) offering since April of 2016.

The average Apple (AAPL) price as forecasted by Wall Street analysts, is $176.04, with a possibility of AAPL reaching the an all-time high of $210.00 while the lowest AAPL stock price forecasted at $90.00.

Should I Buy Apple Stock?

Historically, Apple (AAPL) has shown great performance in the market and it’s common to meet an analyst who would agree that Apple's stock is a good investment choice.

However, since every stock should be measured as a volatile investment, it is wise to consider your whole portfolio when investing on an expensive stock such as AAPL.

The technology sector is home to Apple, a large-cap stock. Consider carefully adding Apple to your portfolio if you already own other “FAANG” stocks such as Facebook, Amazon, or Google. It will be a lot wiser to contemplate investing on AAPL if your portfolio already includes stocks from diverse industries.
