Loopring released its own version of decentralized exchange in February 2020. Based on both the automated market maker (AMM) and orderbook, the non-custodial Loopring Exchange can also be used as a payment app.

What is Loopring's Native Token?

The native token of Loopring is LRC. Holders of this coin can participate in the governance of Loopring and are also eligible for liquidity mining and Loopring's VIP program.

The LRC is an ERC-20 token and can be bought at the Loopring Exchange as well as other decentralized and centralized exchanges.

Loopring Price History

LRC reached its all-time high value of $3.83 on November 10, 2021. On December 18, 2019, the LRC stumbled to its all-time low of $0.01986.

How Does Loopring Work?

Trading on Loopring does not require traders to deposit money into an exchange. Unlike with other decentralized exchanges like Ether Delta, and Bitshares that entail traders to first make a deposit of funds through Ethereum smart contracts. With Loopring, funds are never locked by orders and remain in the safe confines of a users' wallet. By doing this, traders achieve full control over their funds, allowing them to cancel, trim, or increase an order before it is executed. After placing an order, trader can even completely move funds out of their wallet, although this would affect the final order since the protocol's ring miners would be alerted to the wallet's balance before matching orders.

Through a "fast lane," Loopring (LRC) improves performance over traditional decentralized exchanges by combining and executing transactions off-chain thereby avoiding the occurrence of congestion in Ethereum’s network. This is achieved via the application of zkRollups, a Layer-2 scaling solution that collects several transactions into a single group off-chain before sending them to the Ethereum blockchain network as a lone transaction.

Use of the LRC Token

The LRC is used to access the Loopring protocol. For any trader or user who wants to operate a decentralized exchange (DEX) using Loopring, must have at least 250,000 LRC to be able to perform the protocol's on-chain data proofs. If a user wants to access a DEX without using the data proofs of Loopring, the minimum amount of LRC needed to maintain rises up to 1 million.

LRC in Circulation

Currently, Loopring's LRC has a total circulation of 1.33 billion LRC and a maximum supply of 1.37 billion LRC.

Loopring in a Nutshell

Loopring supports both order books and the automated market makers (AMMs) using a non-custodial protocol used by both decentralized and centralized exchanges. This makes it possible for Loopring to be integrated into other smart contract platforms.

Think of Loopring as a protocol network that ushers in the best of two worlds. It is a hybrid exchange that fuses together the centralized order matching and the decentralized order settlement. The result is a super-fast processing time of up to 2,000 transactions per second.

Loopring Forecast

After rallying more than 100% for two consecutive weeks in March 2022, Loopring is being seen as in the right place to begin again its ascent with many analysts expressing the huge possibility of exceeding the $2 barrier in the near future.
