EOS.IO was created based on a white paper published in 2017. The platform was developed by a company called Its Chief of Technology Officer Daniel Larimer, who was the lead architect of the EOS.IO software, became known for developing and designing the proof of stake method that EOS.IO applies in its blockchain.

After an initial coin offering (ICO) haul of more than $4.1 billion in 2018, EOS.IO became one of the biggest open-source blockchains in the crypto universe.

How Does EOS (EOS.IO) Work?

Basically, the two main goals of the EOS are to:

  1. Create a platform that can process millions of transactions per second.
  2. Charge nothing or zero as transaction fee.

The EOS Token

The EOS is the native token that runs on the EOS.IO blockchain. Large-scale applications are supported by this technology. There are no transaction fees associated with sending or receiving and trading EOS. By rewarding users who continue to run the network with EOS, the EOS platform effectively substitutes inflation for transaction fees. Additionally, the EOS coins are used as governance mechanism for generating resources required for users and developers to run applications on EOS.

Presently, the EOS coins have a total circulation of a little more than 970 million while its maximum cap has not yet been set.

Uses of the EOS Coin

The EOS coin is no different from other cryptocurrency since one can also purchase it, send as payment, keep it and receive it as funds in a wallet. To put it simply, it makes up for a seamless and accurate payment system. You can immediately send EOS coins to anyone, anywhere in the world with zero transaction fee.

Advantages of Using the EOS Blockchain

  • In the EOS Blockchain, both public and private use cases are supported.
  • It can be customized to meet a variety of business needs, making it an ideal blockchain application for the real world.
  • The solution provides safe application processing, role-based security authorizations, and industry-leading speed.
  • Based on the EOSIO protocol, it follows similar programming patterns and languages used by existing non-blockchain applications.
  • It is sustainable through instances of inflation. The platform plans on sustaining the continuous handing out of reward to block producers in recognition of their work. By implementing this, EOS achieved a low inflation rate of around 5% annually until it even got lower to 1% in February 2020.
  • A seamless user experience is created by using tools that the users are already familiar with.

Why EOS.IO is Different From Other Crypto Networks?

By trying to solve the issue of scalability—a pressing problem hounding the crypto world—EOS.IO has managed to set its platform apart from the others. All doing so by also charging zero transaction fee.

The EOS Community

The EOS community is one of the fastest growing in the crypto and blockchain industry today. Contributors and investors alike are forming a vibrant community where art is created and marketed, and where interactions among the community members spills over from social media to even in real life.

To date, there are more than 100 DApps comprising the EOS Network with the PRA CandyBox, being its most active application attracting more than 6.000 users every day.
